A Positive

Poster illustration for the 5th INTERNATIONAL REGGAE POSTER CONTEST.
The idea is inspired by the competition’s brief: Building awareness of positive Reggae music! So I used and illustrate the form and posture of Bob Marley singing - combined it with the royal face of the Lion of Jurad. As a symbol of strength, kingship and pride I tried to bring all that within and throughout the legend: Marley. His left hand creates a fist to show power and unification while singing. The typography in the background “REGGAE” is there to verbally show what the lion’s song stands for and designed in a way to “push” my figure and make it stand out. Finally everything is painted using the respected “Rasta colors”: red, yellow and green! 🏆 Poster excelled within the top 100 posters, amongst 1270 participations from 748 countries, and will take part in a serie of exhibitions - first exhibition for 2017 will take place at Liverpool’s Award-Winning "Reggae Festival, Positive Vibrations" and visitors will be able to bid on all posters - proceeds of which will be donated to the Alpha Boys School, Jamaica. |
